Street
Centerline Correction
Street
segments are defined as segments of an established street centerline
file which span from intersection to intersection, not crossing an
intersection or street change boundary. Usually this will be a segment
starting where two or more streets intersect and ending at the next
location where two or more streets intersect. Sometimes, however, a
street can change where there is no visible intersection, usually where
one street curves into another. In this case, the street segment ends
where the street name changes and a new street segment begins. Yotta
MVS's Street Centerline Verification and Correction service, using "Digivan" software,
allows you to confirm existing street segments and draw new ones where
corrections are needed.
Accuracy
Benefits Many
The
benefits of an accurate Street Centerline file are numerous to a cross
section of agencies within a jurisdiction. The files are typically
maintained by a GIS Department and shared with, but not limited to, the
following agencies: Public Safety, E-911, Highway/Roads, Planning/Zoning
and the Tax Assessor. Street Centerline attributes can also have
unique identifiers/data which can be linked to Census TIGER files.
